Part 114: Episode 4, Final Day, Trial: Long Shot
Pretty clear direction there. But why?

quote:
Well that sure doesn't look like the correct choice so far, does it? So what happens if we select that the murderer did have to find the bullet instead? No health bar showing, so no penalty attached to this decision, right?
O-of course there was a need. That's why they took it!
Bah! What possible reason could they have had!?
Sound: Whack
W-well...
The reason the murderer took the bullet away from the scene with them is...!
We're presented with another choice here, this time with a penalty attached! Our two options:
- The bullet would be proof
- The murderer was cautious
I guess I'll try the first one? The second one doesn't look too promising.
Er... Maybe they thought that the bullet would be used as proof?
Proof...?
Sound: Realization
It was a special bullet, so they took it with them...
quote:
Okay, first option made Phoenix say something dumb, let's try the second option.
Uh... Well, the murderer was a very cautious sort, you see.
That's why the murderer had to search for that bullet...
Hey wait, this branch ends early...
If that was the case, then they should've taken the bullet from inside Gregory as well!
Huh?
Why would they only take one of the two shots fired!?
Oh, right.
Sound: Realization
Mr. Wright? Have you really thought this through?
I'm going to have to penalize you!
Sound: Damage 2
And so he does. I'm not buying Karma's logic here, though. It seems a lot harder to take a bullet out of someone's heart on the fly like that.
(Argh... This isn't going so well.)
Sound: Whoops
Was there some pressing need for the murderer to search for that bullet?
As you may have noticed, we take that penalty no matter which option we choose on the second prompt! So effectively there's really a hidden penalty on the first prompt! Thus why we get taken back to that first prompt now... very sneaky, game!

Oh! Duh! The first shot struck the murderer! So the murderer didn't need to go looking for it, and just took it from the crime scene with them!
Wait, didn't Karma take a long vacation after the DL-6 Incident for no apparent reason? Was he... recovering from an injury, perhaps?

Here's my one problem with this theory - where did all the murderer's blood go? Karma got hit by a stray bullet, wandered over to the elevator, saw his enemy lying vulnerable and unconcsious, picked up the pistol and shot him, and didn't get any of his own blood anywhere? Remember the case file said there were "no clues found on the scene". The killer's blood would be a pretty big damn clue. (Maybe he really is a vampire; they don't bleed, right?)

Grammar nerd note - that might be the first time I've seen the word "themself" actually used correctly in media form.

I've been thinking that the murderer came from outside the elevator so long I was surprised that the crowd reacted here.

Are elevator doors easier to open from the outside or something? Weren't they stuck in there for like five hours? What was the murderer doing hanging out in the courthouse for five hours after an earthquake had knocked out power?

Uh, thanks?

Wait, Maya figured it out?

Red text apparently means we should have paid attention to it.

I like how they're having this crazy sidebar discussion in open court.

Phoenix the guy just tased you to steal DL-6 evidence, is it that hard to imagine he was the killer?

Let's wait until after Edgeworth is declared guilty again.

Do you think Karma has any idea we're about to turn around and accuse him?

Like the last few choices like this one, the other option just skips all that content and moves straight ahead.

Karma's real cocky there. Did he take out the bullet himself? Or... is it still in there, after all this time?

Sound: Whack

Not if you kill the doctor, too! Leaving a bullet wound untreated seems... risky.

Probably not the Attorney's Badge, though I'm sure it will garner a few votes anyway. So if it's not that, then what evidence is the proof we need?
